The cover / shell is often made of 100% cotton fabric, which gives a soft, breathable surface. 

The filling (“fibre” part) is usually synthetic: many fibre pillows use silicone-coated polyester hollow fibres rather than natural cotton for the fill. 

In some cases, the term “cotton fibre” could be used, but one must check carefully: sometimes it refers to cotton in the cover, not the filling.

Feel & Firmness

Many fibre-cotton pillows have medium firmness, though there are low and high-loft versions depending on how much fibre is in the pillow. 

Because of the hollow fibre filling, they are fairly “plump” and springy, offering a good balance of fluffiness and support.

Breathability & Comfort

The cotton shell gives good air circulation, helping the pillow feel cool and breathable. 

Cotton is hygroscopic (absorbs moisture), so it can wick away sweat or humidity, making the pillow comfortable over long use. 

Synthetic hollow fibres inside also help maintain the structure and allow airflow.

Hypoallergenic & Care

Fibre-filled pillows are often hypoallergenic because the synthetic fill resists dust mites better than some natural fills. 

Many such pillows are machine washable; for example, some fibre-cotton pillows can be washed (but check care labels). 

Carefully drying is important so the fibres don’t clump or remain damp.

Durability

The synthetic fibre filling tends to be resilient and recovers its shape reasonably well with regular fluffing. 

But over time, if the filling compresses, the loft may reduce if not properly maintained.

Safety & Environment

Since the filling is synthetic, it's not biodegradable (unless the manufacturer uses recycled or special fibres).

The cotton outer shell is natural, which is a plus for breathability and comfort.
