The text is pseudepigraphal, meaning it is attributed to the patriarch Enoch (great-grandfather of Noah) to lend it authority and ancient wisdom, though it was written much later.

• The Fall of the Watchers (Angels): This narrative expands significantly on Genesis 6:1-4, detailing how a group of 200 high-ranking angels, called the "Watchers," descended to Earth, took human wives, and taught humanity forbidden knowledge, including metallurgy, sorcery, and astrology.
• The Origin of the Nephilim and Evil: The union between the Watchers and human women produced the Nephilim, a race of violent, giant hybrids who wreaked havoc on Earth and consumed humanity's resources.
