The return

The novel follows Trevor Benson, an injured army orthopedic surgeon who returns to his grandfather's dilapidated cabin in New Bern, NC, to regroup after a mortar blast in Afghanistan. While there, he tends to his grandfather's beloved beehives and meets Natalie Masterson, a local deputy sheriff. A connection forms between them, but Natalie is reserved and holds secrets. As Trevor works to uncover the mysteries surrounding Natalie and a local teenage girl named Callie, he learns about love, forgiveness, and returning to where life began.
