Ujeuri wa Mbwa (The Stubbornness of the Dog) is a contemporary Kiswahili fable that addresses the importance of good manners and social conduct, written by Pamela M. Y. Ngugi. The story highlights the challenges faced by dogs and cats, who struggle with basic skills like proper hunting, escaping danger by climbing, and most critically, hygiene and appropriate waste disposal. When the local Chief organises a seminar to educate the community, the dog (Mbwa) proves to be disobedient and full of stubbornness (ujeuri), ignoring the lessons and threatening the entire effort. This engaging tale teaches young readers about the value of respect, cleanliness, and the consequences of being unruly.
