Other than lighting, the gadget isn't performing its primary purpose of getting rid of the mosquitos. It's turned on and the mosquitos move freely in the room without getting close to it, I render it useless

It doesn't attract as many mosquitoes in the room as I'd hoped but still does it's job when it manages to attract some. Also, if you intend to place it near you (which is the best way to keep mosquitoes from biting you) just make sure that it's not visible through any nearby windows otherwise the mosquitoes will be the least of your worries.
