ThinkPad X100e is designed to be tough to handle rough use of students and mobile workers. Shock absorption from Active Protection System (APS) provides better protection to HDD against accidental drops. Customizable security features and spill-resistant keyboard add more reliability. Experience faster start up and shutdown with Lenovo Rapid Boot technology. Superior web conferencing provide enhanced user experience. Ensure consistent activity with top cover LEDs that indicate wireless connectivity and laptop power or sleep mode.
Design The dual-core Think-pad X100e has the same exact same 3.2-pound, 11.1 x 8.2 x 1.2-inch chassis as the single core version we reviewed previously. That means a lightweight minimalist design. If you're a Think-pad fan, you'll appreciate the simple black or red plastic lid that opens to reveal a island keyboard, clean black palm rest, and plain touch-pad.
There are few status lights and only one button for power, but there's no need for bling in this highly functional design. The only real blemish is the rather large bulge provided by the system's six-cell battery.
Think-vantage Active Protection System
For models with traditional hard drives, an accelerometer detects movement and stops the drive when a fall or similar event is detected. Rubber mounts are used for the hard disk drive (rather than rails) and the HDD connector is not rigidly attached to the board, so the connector absorbs shock and impact and protects against system damage.
Social Networking Features
A low-light sensitive HD webcam, HD anti-glare display, HD microphone, and speakers, plus preloaded application for video calls makes it a cinch for learning via social networks. LED activity lights on the top cover indicate at-a-glance status of wireless connectivity and power/sleep mode. Dolby® Advanced Audio™ v2 provides immersive surround sound and enhanced acoustics. Intel® HD graphics includes up to 100% increase in 3D and visual performance from previous generations.
