I like it, for the price.

Can it make chips, yes. Will a higher wattage fryer be better, also yes. I've not cooked chicken with it so can't say about that. Before buying this one you need to be very clear for what purpose you are getting it, because use case are pretty narrow. Also not every thing can be cooked in one go, you'll have to open it rearrange and put it back again. Also timer is the only control you get, no cooking Modes, no heat controls, nothing. Once again, if you can spend more, or you want to do may things, go for a higher wattage version. This is only 800w.
